WHEELING — The James T. McClure Respiratory Symposium will offer a health care review from 5-9 p.m. March 11. The event will take place in the White Palace ballroom at Wheeling Park. The Tuberculosis Association of Ohio County and the Wheeling Area Continuing Medical Education Consortium are presenting the symposium. There is a cost to attend, with a lower rate for students. ASA's Ana Herrera On February 21, AIDS Services of Austin announced a merger with Vivent Health , a national HIV/AIDS services nonprofit. The announcement came at ASA's annual fundraising luncheon, Building Healthy Futures , at the Downtown Sheraton. ASA, the largest and oldest HIV/AIDS nonprofit in Central Texas, provides direct medical care and supportive services to those living with HIV through its myriad programs, including the Moody Medical Clinic, the Jack Sansing Dental Clinic, and housing assistance. Vivent Health began in much the same way as ASA, as the AIDS Resource Center of Wis­con­sin in Milwaukee, but has expanded its national reach in recent years through mergers with service providers in other states, including Rocky Mountain CARES in Denver and the St. Louis Effort for AIDS . Express News Service VIJAYAWADA:  The distribution of the recently-announced health cards for livestock will begin by May-end, and it will be done with the help of village volunteers through the 11,158 Rythu Bharosa Kendras that will be built across the state. In an interaction with TNIE, Animal Husbandry director Dr M Srinivas Rao said all health-related services including de-worming, breeding, brucellosis vaccination, foot and mouth disease control, entertoxemia disease (ETD) control and sheep packs would be covered under the scheme. Vaccination and de-worming programmes would be conducted twice a year across the state.  The scheme will also compensate for the loss of cattle under the livestock loss compensation provision.“While Rs 30,000 will be given for the loss of a country-bred (fine quality) bovine, Rs 15,000 will be given for country-bred (common variety) cattle. The City of Austin will soon be receiving a federal grant of $750,000 to help fight the spread of HIV/AIDS in Texas, according to U.S. Sen. John Cornyn. This funding comes from the Department of Health and Human Services' "Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America – Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program." The program aims to reduce new HIV infections across the nation. “The scourge of HIV/AIDS continues to cause tremendous pain for too many Texans and their families,” said Sen. Pediatric AIDS chief doctor steps down at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston - Houston Chronicle

Dr. Mark Kline, who founded an international pediatric HIV/AIDS program credited with saving tens of thousands of lives, has abruptly stepped down from leadership posts at that organization and two elite Houston medical institutions. Texas Children’s and Baylor College of Medicine Wednesday jointly announced the departures, which come less than a year after the hospital nominated Kline for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work with the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative, the world’s largest provider of HIV/AIDS care and treatment. Kline was president of the initiative. He also resigned as physician-in-chief at Texas Children’s and chairman of the department of pediatrics at Baylor, according to a Texas Children’s news release and an email to the Baylor community from school President Dr. Paul Klotman. The documents gave no reason for the resignations and Kline could not be reached for comment. Neither document thanked Kline for his nearly 30 years of service at the two i...
