In January 2020, AIDS took the lives of 176 people in Ukraine. At the same time, the worldwide death toll made 32 million people since the epidemic began. The Centre for Public Health of Ukraine reported that on Facebook.

"1,268 new cases of HIV-infection were officially registered in Ukraine in January 2020. 322 patients were diagnosed with AIDS, and 176 people died of AIDS", reads the message.

Since the beginning of the AIDS epidemic, 74.9 million people got infected with AIDS, and 32 million succumbed to the diseases caused by the syndrome.

Despite the reduction of the number of new cases of HIV infection and AIDS-related deaths over the last few years, many people don't have access in terms of preventive therapy. And those living with HIV do not always have the access to the treatment. 

In December 2019, over 1,600 new cases of HIV infection were observed in Ukraine; 228 people succumbed to AIDS. The Centre for Social Health admitted that the HIV morbidity rate among Ukrainian youngsters (aged 15-24) shows a stable tendency to reduction.
