Man Charged In Greenville Shooting Set For February Trial

CATSKILL — A trial date has been set in the case of a Surprise man accused of shooting a woman in January.

The trial is set for Feb. 27 in Greene County Court, with Judge David Costanzo presiding over the case.

Sean Michael Davis, 63, of Surprise, a small hamlet in the town of Coxsackie, was indicted in February on charges including first-degree assault; first-degree criminal use of a firearm; criminal possession of a weapon; and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all class B felonies.

Davis was also charged with menacing and witness tampering related to the woman he allegedly shot.

Davis was indicted Feb. 26 on the charges that stem from a reported domestic abuse incident Greene County Sheriff's Office personnel responded to shortly after 6 p.M. On Jan. 21. The female 911 caller said she had been shot during a domestic dispute at a home on King Hill Road in Greenville.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found a 32-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her pelvic area, the sheriff's office said in April. Sheriff's deputies applied a tourniquet and carried her to a patrol car for transportation to a landing zone.

The woman who called 911 was flown to Albany Medical Center by a LifeNet helicopter where she underwent emergency surgery and survived. 

Davis was arraigned in Coxsackie Town Court on March 5 and pleaded not guilty to all charges. He was ordered by the court to be held in the Greene County Jail without bail where he continues to be held.
